Government Relations & Advocacy

The Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce plays a number of roles in government affairs, supporting initiatives aimed at policies critical to enhancing the economic climate for all businesses in the region.
The Chamber serves as the voice of business, at the local, state, and federal levels, taking a pro-active approach in articulating a pro-business, pro-jobs, and pro-growth message, and serving as a resource for print and broadcast media, speaking at events, and meeting with government representatives.
The Chamber’s non-partisan Political Action Committee, Syracuse Tomorrow, endorses and supports pro-business candidates, participates in voter-turnout initiatives, and advocates on behalf of key business and economic issues.
The Chamber also maintains lobbyists on staff. A full-time lobbyist focuses on local, state and federal initiatives, working directly with state legislators and members of the executive branch, as well as with Chamber members to generate calls, lobbying letters and testimony. The Chamber’s annual Lobbying Guide, provides a comprehensive listing of federal, state, county and local officials, and their staff members.
Another important Chamber initiative is government modernization. The Chamber supports streamlining government structures, procedures, and regulations that impede business development and increase costs to taxpayers, and the creation of those that expedite growth of the 21st century economy.
To give our region a larger voice than we could have working on our own, the Chamber also partners with other influential business organizations, including Unshackle Upstate, the Business Council of New York State, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
