Economic, Businesss & Community Development

The Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce plays an integral role in fostering economic, business, and community development, creating a platform for growth in the Syracuse region.
The Chamber is the region’s voice of prosperity, assembling and highlighting the external/third-party recognition that Syracuse has received, making it available to those considering expansion or relocation in this area. To help ensure that the region attracts and retains growth industries, the Chamber provides comprehensive entrepreneurial support to high growth technology firms through the Syracuse Tech Garden, which offers a range of services to technology start-ups and early-stage companies. The Chamber also promotes sector building in specific industries. One example is green/clean tech. The Chamber is a founding member of the Central Upstate NY ‘Green Team’ coalition, and has created the Center for Clean Tech Entrepreneurship at the Tech Garden.
Regional growth has as its nucleus a vibrant urban area. The Chamber is actively engaged in initiatives aimed at downtown revitalization for Syracuse.
Strong infrastructure is also essential to regional success. The Chamber provides infrastructure development/support specifically in the transportation sector, (the highways, waterways, air and high speed rail systems) that a business uses to transport goods and consumers. Work is in this area is critical to this region’s success.
Through the Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Chamber develops regional branding/marketing aimed at promoting the City of Syracuse and Onondaga County as a convention and visitor destination. The Chamber also publishes an annual Travel Guide to Greater Syracuse and Onondaga County, and the Community Guide to Greater Syracuse.
